TOP 5 School Summer Camps 2015 in Arkansas

It’s time to plan summer activities for your children. Here are TOP 5 great Camps for fun and an unforgettable summer. We try to find camps near Conway for all tastes: from art to sport.

University of Central Arkansas Nike Tennis Camp

Ages: 5-18

Dates: June 1-5, July 27-31

Costs: full day (9:00AM – 4:00PM) – $310.00, half day (9:00AM – 12:00PM) -$185.00

Location: Conway

This camp is a great combination of fun and athletic for young sportsmen to improve their tennis skills with professional instructors from UCA head women’s coach, Casey Wharton, and his experienced staff. The University of Central Arkansas Nike Tennis Camp gives kid athletes an opportunity to hit thousands of balls, find new friends, and be challenged by some of the best players in their peer group. Camp includes Special High School program for players ages 13-18 and a “10 & Under Tennis” program for players ages 5-10. There is a special bonus, a Nike Tennis Camp T-shirt.

Summer Strings Camp

Ages: 12-16

Dates: June 22-26, daily 1:30-5:00 PM, Concert Friday at 4:30 PM

Costs: $150 ($125 before June 5)

Location: Little Rock

It’s a creative five-day summer program for viola, cello, violin and double bass players at all school levels and students (must have one year of string study on their instruments). Activities include chamber music ensembles, music theory and listening classes, a guest artist presentation, and sectionals focusing on the South Region audition materials. Private lessons with teachers are also available before or after the regular program.

Wildwood Academy of Music and the Arts

Ages: 6-18

Dates: Instrumental sessions: June 9 – July 3, Vocal sessions: July 6-31, Wild Art activities: June 9 – July 31. All programs are 8:30 AM- 3 PM

Costs: from $250-500 per session

Location: Little Rock

This extensive summer program includes instrumental and vocal sessions for beginners and ambitious young professionals. Classes in music theory, visual, dance and theater arts, as well as naturalist training, are also offered. The basic goal of these activities is to identify the connection between music and other arts, including exploring various cultures and time periods. (Read also: Education in Finland. Ferncliff Summer Day Camp

Ages: Entering grades 1-6

Dates: June 8 – July 31, Monday-Friday

Costs: $190.00 per week

Location: 10 miles west of Little Rock

Camp has over 75 years of experience in providing different types of camping programs in an atmosphere of caring and acceptance where kids can play outside, make friends, and grow their faith. Campers can sign up for one week session, seven sessions or anywhere in between. The cost includes lunch, an afternoon snack, and all activities: swimming in the pool, playing games, making crafts, hiking, fishing, morning Bible study and evening worship.

STEAMpunk Camp

Ages: 6-8, 9-13

Dates:  July 13-17, Monday-Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM

Costs: Call for pricing

Location: Little Rock

This one-week camping program consists of different spheres: science, technology, engineering, art, and math. It’s a developmental movement from Museum of Discovery that elevates creativity and imagination using technology and innovation. Certainly, little scientists will like it.
